Where the worldwide Esports community came to play  

With the aim of reaching a previously untargeted millennial audience, we led Mastercard’s first foray into gaming, signing a multi-year partnership with the world’s largest Esports institution, League of Legends.

As their first global sponsor, we took pride of place at the World Championships in Korea. There, we created the Mastercard Nexus, a three-day experiential pop-up community hub featuring a state-of-the-art AR activation, exclusive 1v1 tournament technology, Twitch creator camps, panel discussions, pro player meet and greets and an official viewing party for the grand-final.

The bold, striking venue consisted of 28 interlinking recycled shipping containers in downtown Gangnam, becoming the beating heart of the championships.

The Nexus welcomed over 2,000 fans inside, garnering 23m social impressions and 31,800 hours of branded contennt, kicking-off the partnership in truly priceless fashion.
